Jennifer Joyce Interview

Please welcome Jennifer Joyce to the Sunday blog today.

A little bit about Jennifer:

I’m a writer of romantic comedies from Manchester, where I live with my husband and our two daughters, plus Jack Russell Luna and bunny Cinnamon.

Did you read much as a child? Are you an avid reader now? Do you prefer books in your own genre or are you happy to explore others?

I loved to read growing up. I had lots of books at home and the library was close by. My love of reading has never swayed – I can’t imagine not having a book on the go!

Although I write and love reading romantic comedies, I also like to read psychological thrillers and historical novels.

Are you self-published or traditionally published?

Both! I self-published two books (A Beginner’s Guide To Salad and Everything Changes But You) before signing with HQ Digital (HarperCollins). I’ll be self-publishing the Beginner’s Guide Book 2 in August.

Do you have a favourite time of day to write?

I usually write during the day between school runs. I’m probably most productive mid-morning, after I’ve faffed about on social media!

Is social media an essential chore or something you enjoy? Which forum do you prefer?

Love it! I use Twitter, Facebook and Instagram daily. Instagram is my favourite at the moment. I also have a blog, which I update regularly.

It’s the last day and the earth is facing oblivion – what book would you read?

Thirty Nothing by Lisa Jewell. I fell in love with the book back in 2000/2001 and I still love to go back for a re-read. It’s like catching up with old friends.

Please tell us what you are working on or your latest published work.

My latest book is The Little Bed & Breakfast by the Sea, which centres around the lives of Mae, Willow and Melody, three women who meet for the first time at Mae’s bed and breakfast. All three women are struggling in one form or another and as they bond during the summer at the bed and breakfast, they start to reveal their hopes and dreams – and the obstacles that are preventing them from reaching them.

The ebook is available now and the paperback will be published on 24th August.
